Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Course

Stress is one of the biggest health-risk factors in our lives, greatly impacting both mental and physical health. Mindfulness meditation is one of the best ways to reduce stress and improve your emotional well-being. It also improves focus, supports habit change, and may help protect your memory.

The MBSR course is ideal for everyone who seeks to improve well-being, especially if you want to:
• learn how to deal with stress
• learn how to deal with difficult emotions, like tension, anxiety or pain
• spend less energy on worrying
• be able to enjoy a busy life
• find more moments of joy, peace and inner stillness
• increase your energy levels

This course follows the internationally-recognised 8-week MBSR curriculum, as developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. Taught in this way, the program is scientifically proven to reduce stress and allow us to enjoy a better quality of life. We learn to become aware of the mind’s tendency to wander between worrying about the past and the future. And we discover that there is an alternative, a space of conscious choice.
The simple but powerful techniques learned provide tools to experience a greater sense of satisfaction and peace.

The program is experiential and comprises active participation rather than passive learning, taught in a supportive group environment. The course has eight sessions of 2.5 hours plus an optional (highly recommended!) whole practice day. The MBSR program taught in this structure has been widely proven to significantly improve well-being, with lasting effect.
Each session includes:
• guided meditations (sitting, walking, lying)
• practical mindfulness daily life exercises
• discussing and sharing practice experiences
As well as these exercises and theory, additional course materials are provided for daily home practice:
• Course workbook
• Audio recordings of guided meditations
• Worksheets for home practice

Each session has a theme:

We invite you to awaken your senses and embrace the energy of the season for a day of inner renewal. Free yourself from your to-do list, explore Mindfulness and emerge feeling lighter, more joyful and more balanced.

The day is spent in restful silence – taking time to just be still and quiet gives our nervous system a chance to regain balance, bringing our inner world in harmony with the outer world. That’s why our retreat is set in a green, secluded location with absolute peace and tranquility, where you can relax and reconnect with nature, enjoying calming meditation and revitalizing outdoor walks.

PROGRAMME OVERVIEW
Arrival, with tea
MORNING
Grounding meditation to come to stillness; tuning in to the body with gentle Mindful Movement practice; a flow of meditation practices including body scan, sitting meditation and mindful walking in nature.
LUNCH
A light vegetarian lunch, with Mindful Eating practice.
AFTERNOON
Resuming our meditation practices, including walking, sitting and a Loving-Kindness meditation. Ending with dissolving the silence, group dialogue and closing the circle.
