Wendy

Hi, I’m Wendy, pleased to meet you!

I understand the powerful human drive to achieve and to be your best. But I’ve discovered that genuine well-being isn’t about constantly chasing some perfect idea of what life should be, or what you should be. Instead, it’s about gently rediscovering the peace and wholeness already within you. My mission is to guide you back to your senses, helping you unlock your own capacity for calm, resilience, and genuine connection.

My StoryMy ApproachMy Expertise

Recovering Perfectionist

My path to mindfulness began with a profound personal challenge. As a proud Scot and expat in the Netherlands, I understand the unique pressures of navigating life in a new environment. For years, as Senior Lecturer at a UN institute, I was always striving for excellence – my relentless drive fuelled by a deep admiration of my students. Coming from developing countries, their determination to master their studies—despite immense personal sacrifice — utterly compelled me to work tirelessly towards their worthy goal of building a better world.
This intense dedication came at a cost. Like many who constantly push, I ignored my body’s signals and neglected rest. When acute back pain finally stopped me, I was shocked and confused – I simply didn’t recognize it as burnout. Slowly, through mindfulness, I saw how I had overreached, ignored basic needs, and failed to recover. This is where I truly began to find my calm.

That profound shift sparked a growing interest, leading me to leave my UN career and fully embrace mindfulness. It’s a move I’ve never regretted – constantly learning, growing, and sharing this journey with others.
A pivotal moment was discovering self-compassion. As a recovering perfectionist (an ongoing journey!), raised with a strong work ethic, I found that kindness—like a true friend—helps us achieve goals more easily. It’s now my sanctuary in tough times, a reminder to be gentle with myself, and others. It has even returned a playfulness I thought lost in adulthood. Thanks to mindful compassion, I can truly be me again, and I like who I am!

“One of the things I love about mindfulness is the fundamental premise that we are already whole — we don’t need to try to get better, we just need to learn how to uncover what is already there and accept ourselves as we really are.”

Guided by Science and Nature

Coming back to my senses in my beloved Scotland.

My approach to mindfulness is rooted in two core convictions:

Science-Backed, Real-World Impact

Mindfulness is rigorously researched and scientifically proven to have significant positive effects on both mental and physical well-being. Studies show reductions in stress, anxiety, and depression, alongside improvements in sleep quality, immune function, and cardiovascular health. Additionally, MBSR can enhance emotional regulation and resilience, leading to better coping mechanisms and overall life satisfaction.

This is why I’m confident in the effectiveness of my interventions, and why you can be too.

Inspired by Nature’s Wisdom

I believe we are fundamentally part of nature; when we forget that, it often leads to many of the difficulties of modern life. I love spending time in green spaces as it instantly improves my mood. My guidance encourages you to “come back to your senses”—truly seeing, hearing, smelling, and feeling your environment. This simple reconnection with nature’s rhythm naturally fosters greater peace and inner harmony.

You are nature, go home once in a while. It will bring you much you didn’t even know you were missing. ~ Donna Ashworth, fromWild Hope

Combining my rich teaching experience with this mindful, compassionate, and nature-inspired philosophy is a true privilege.
